In 2000, Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS) was established as a ‘seedbed’ for missions, with a vision to see a world “full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9) In this context, Olivet Theological College & Seminary’s mission is to expand the territory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God by equipping ministers with sound doctrines as well as hands-on ministry skills, and driving innovation and effectiveness in Christian ministry.
When Olivet University was formally incorporated in 2004, OTCS became its first and largest college. OTCS emphasizes innovative ministry preparation, and research in the traditional disciplines of Bible, theology, missions, history, and education.
As the University continues expanding its scope and offerings to different cities in the U.S., OTCS has established a robust network of extension course offerings in multiple sites across the United States. Its educational approach emphasizes the integration of rigorous spiritual formation, relevant classroom instruction in traditional seminary disciplines, and the practical and innovative involvement of students in ministry work throughout every program.
As one of the newest members of the OTCS network, OTCS Orlando was established in 2021 in the heart of the serene and venerable city of Sanford, which has approximately 150 years of history and is nestled by the picturesque Lake Monroe. By strolling merely a few blocks from OTCS Orlando, one can immerse oneself in the old-world charm of downtown Sanford to revitalize both mind and body with the cool breeze blowing from Lake Monroe, which persists all year round.
For those who aspire to revival, Florida is renowned for being the site of the last great awakening of modern Christian history, including the Pensacola Revival. Despite being the southernmost state of the United States, Florida can be seen as a beacon of fervent spirituality, capable of rekindling the flame of revival not only in America but around the world.
Orlando, where renowned mission organizations such as Cru International and Wycliffe Bible Translators set up their headquarters, continues to be the home to numerous Christian institutions and missionary organizations, partly due to its mild climate and the geographical advantage of easy access to the sea. For those with a vision and passion for missions, Orlando provides an ideal environment to host year-round training and set out towards the open sea that leads to the world.
In addition, the bustling city of Orlando, located just 30 minutes from the school, is a magnet for tourists from all over the world drawn by Walt Disney World and its beautiful beaches. OTCS Orlando students can enjoy this city as they pursue their dreams of venturing out to the mission field.
